The Strokes All The Time video plus more reviews

I wasn’t sure whether we would get a video for single “All The Time” seeing as the band are doing no promotion for Comedown Machine (at least for the time being). So it was a pleasant surprise to find out some kind of video has indeed been made.  At first it seems like such a collection of the band performing throughout their 15 year career but there is some new footage in there of the guys messing around backstage and in the studio and generally having fun.

It is basically a lovely piece of nostalgia and also highlights the friendship within the band especially in light of recent years and the media’s portrayal of the band’s 5 year hiatus.   Albert mentioned on Twitter that he was responsible for the video, nice one Albert.

Comedown Machine Reviews

Couple of more have been published, including the BBC Music review ”Brilliant pop songs – and sometimes that’s all that really matters

Rolling Stone gave the album 3 out of 5 stars but the review itself came over as quite harsh and the writer Rob Sheffield seems to have some kind of problem with Julian.

You can read it under the cut

Potential problems with the media on this site

You may have read about the closure of Megaupload last week, it is having a massive impact on other filesharing sites including the one I use to host the majority of the media on here, Mediafire.

I’ve always loved sharing all the concerts and TV performances with other Strokes fans and Mediafire has been the easiest way to do that. I have never uploaded anything by The Strokes that could be purchased legally, it’s always been about bootlegs that you can’t get otherwise.

I have something like 30GB of Strokes media currently uploaded to Mediafire, if it was to be closed down currently there is no other hosting service I could upload it all to and even if there was it would take a long time. I could possibly uploaded the audio to my own site but the videos would be too much.

I don’t want to panic anyone but seriously the way everything is going right now Mediafire closing or having restrictions is sadly a likely scenario.

So if there is a concert you always meant to download but have yet then I suggest doing that sooner rather than later.

Some links are probably broken but I don’t have the time right now to upload them again.

I honestly hope that Mediafire doesn’t close, it would be a great loss to us all. I will keep you updated with any developments.

The Strokes play Personal Festival, Buenos Aires

The Strokes played their penultimate show of the year at Personal Festival in Argentina

Unfortunately the live stream for this show was appalling so I couldn’t watch or record it. However, I do have audio courtesy of Florenciaos

The guys brought back a few classics for the setlist including 12:51 and HIAC. I adore the beginning of 12:51 with the crowd going crazy.

More collaborations as The Strokes play Pearl Jam Fest Day Two

The second day of the Pearl Jam Festival provided yet more collaborations. I honestly love it when The Strokes perform with other people it always add in an extra element of fun and the guys clearly have a blast.

Julian joined QOTSA on stage during Sick Sick Sick – the song that he performed backing vocals and guitar for back in 2007. QOTSA singer Josh Homme returned the favour and came out for New York City Cops, as well as Eddie Vedder singing on Juicebox again.

Finally Julian (having a busy night) sang backing vocals on Pearl Jam’s Red Mosquito.

Overall sounds like another great night and I’m sure anyone at the concerts this weekend had a blast. I’m so jealous of anyone who went BTW ha
