17/05/2007 :: "Ryan's newsletter" []
In case you got the blank email from The Strokes like most people seemed to...Highlights from Ryan's emailOn MAY 21st we will be taking www.thestrokes.com off-line for a complete overhaul. we'll be giving it a complete facelift! if you post on the message board, etc., don't be alarmed... when we put the site back online, all the old threads will still be there, and the layout and structure won't change... log-in information will remain the same. the new & improved site will go live on MAY 29th... we hope you like it!
During the week the site is off-line, you'll be able to see a "sneak peak" of a brand new alternate video for "You Only Live Once", the first track off the strokes' last album, "First Impressions Of Earth". Starting MAY 29th, the full video clip will be live on www.imeem.com, the clip is directed by Warren Fu, and we're all quite excited about it... don't miss it! it will be an exclusive ONLINE ONLY video clip.
The Strokes are still enjoying some much needed "off time". i wouldn't expect anything to come out this year, but hey, then again, ya never know... in the meantime, they are staying busy pursuing some other personal interests and are busy working/writing/rehearsing and all those things bands do in between albums... but there are no immediate plans to release an album or tour for the time being.

Still quiet on The Strokes front, but I have been trying my best to update the media section, especially reuploading dead links and adding a few more videos. One recent picture of Nick is also upAlso something I forgot to mention in the last update is the news that Julian will be appearing on the new Queens of the Stone Age album which is due out in June, no word yet on what role he will be playing on the record.

There is no need to email me and tell me they are dead. Will deal with the files when I can.Meanwhile take a look at the pretty pictures from Cody Smyth's website. And also vote for The Strokes as Best International band in this years NME awards

Strokes' manager Ryan Gentle runs the profile, and also fans who fear Albert is leaving the band, well he isn't so don't worry! On the subject of Albert's album, I know people want the songs but the policy of this site is no offically recorded material. However I am aware people outside of the UK will want the album, so even buy it online (places do ship internationally some even for free) or wait for a while after its release where I'm sure links will be available. This isn't to be mean its to help sales and avoid legal action

19/10/05 ::: MTV will not play this video because it's so controversial
Rumours about the new video are flying about, whether the strokes are kidding or not apparently it will consist of lots of sex, as the kids of NY go wild to Juicebox....interesting stuffThe band play their first gigs of 2005 this weekend in South America, here's hoping for some great reports, bootlegs and photos from the shows!
02/10/05 ::: Why Have The Strokes Gone Space Rock?
Lots has been going on in Strokesville since I last updated, new single Juicebox was leaked then hastly put on the official site. My own view is, excellant come back single which will probably isolate some fans but what the hell. The boys graced the cover of NME this week. Scans of the pictures can be found here

17/09/05 ::: "Why won't you come over here,we've got a city to love"
The new album has been giving a working title of First Impressions of Earth, speaking to this week NME's Julian said"The album's kind of about how someone from outer space would objectively view things happening on earth. The single could be about a proper relationship, a casual friendship or whatever you want really. It's one of the more fun songs. The title just sounded like a cool word. It was originally called ‘Dracula's Lunch', but I liked the sound of ‘Juice Box'
Juice Box is hitting the shops on 7th November according to hmv.co.uk, no official date has been confirmed. NME also had a tracklisting of the record but again nothing has been confirmed:
I'll Try Anything Once
Juice Box
Heart In A Cage
Razor Blade
The Other Side
Electricityscape
Killing Lies
Fear Of Sleep
15 Minutes Of Pain
Vision Of Division
Red Light
Evening Sun
Eyes Of The World
Ask Me Anything
Other news, Albert has teamed up with Ben Kweller to cover Wait by The Beatles for THIS BIRD HAS FLOWN A 40th Anniversary Tribute to The Beatles' Rubber Soul. Interesting stuff.

26/06/05 ::: My Feelings Are More Important Than Yours
Seems like The Strokes are rock's biggest teasers, declaring that their new album won't be released until January 2006 the band have been making us fans drawl with ancpitation over the new songs. From being " like a seedless watermelon" [Source Rolling Stone ]
To lucky journalists who have heard roughcuts of the record comparing songs to an array of artists...The Who, Pavement, The Pixies and Judas Priest "Albert Hammond Jr. ripping into a solo on "Vision of Division" sounding like Dick Dale on crack"
And with titles such as Razor Blade, Ask Me Anything, and Fear of Sleep It seems to me like the third album could be dare I say it third album genius akin to OK Computer and London Calling?
Oh and I havent even mentioned the somewhat emo, slightly surreal lyrics (we named a summer camp after you) and the fact that Nick plays mellotron on a track *gasp*
