As a few of you may have caught wind of, late yesterday we spilled the beans that we’d had the chance to preview new music from The Strokes. While RCA is keeping most of the details of the forthcoming new full length album (yes, you read that correctly) under wraps, we can tell you that of the two songs we heard, one was a more synth driven track, with the other (the aforementioned, “All The Time”) packing a classic strokes sound. No mention of a tour came up, but we can tell you, you’ll be hearing new music from the band sooner than later. More when we can share.
I’ve confirmed with Mike Kaplan, the Program Director at 107.7 The End, that “All The Time” is indeed the first single from the Strokes’ new album. Kaplan has also heard some of the other songs on the record — he said they all sound “amazing” and added that the fan base won’t be disappointed — and will provide advanced notice as to when 107.7 will premiere the first single once the station gets the green light from RCA Records . So, the album appears to be completed.
This is pretty amazing news right? We all longed for a new album this year but the long wait between FIOE and Angles taught me that I shouldn’t get my hopes up too much. Sometimes though the best kind of news is a surprise and I actually kind of prefer this sudden attack of new material rather than hearing about it months in advance.
No idea when ‘All The Time‘ will debut but I’m thinking sooner rather than later, this month hopefully!
Follow the site on Twitter and I will of course post the news when I get it.
