Julian Casablancas on the future of The Strokes

Julian Casablancas for GQ MagazineA sixth record by The Strokes always felt like a given to me, things were very quiet in 2013 when Comedown Machine was released but last summer they played some shows and they are doing some more festivals this year. Something is definitely happening in the land of The Strokes and so it is really great getting confirmation from main man Julian Casablancas himself in a recent interview with Noisey. Now I wouldn’t expect anything new to emerge anytime soon but at least its on the cards.

“The Strokes have already announced a small clutch of high profile festival appearances this coming summer, and Casablancas has joined Hammond Jr, Moretti, Fraiture, and Valensi in Manhattan for the next week or so. “It’s the first time we’ve been exclusively writing since Comedown Machine,” he says. “We’re planning on recording stuff. I still think we could do cool things and I’ll do that. I’d like to do both [bands] really if I could.”

The entire article is excellent and well worth the read.

There is also a recent interview with Elision fanzine which is another great read and has some lovely artwork.
